But men sell rugs to women buyers and women decorators and women end users. Women are attuned to design. Men are not. Women react to color. Men not so much. Men talk price. Women talk fashion. One thing for sure, men are uncomfortable talking about color, fashion, and the design aspects of a rug. Women buy design, color and fashion.

Marlys senses fashion trends by reading, traveling, going to trade show — by letting her eyes do the walking. She analyzed the current best sellers in the Couristan inventory and sorted into them five prominent design trends she had identified. Subsequent rugs are designed to celebrate the five trends she has identified.
