A husband and wife weaving team. Babulal has been weaving for 30 years. Kalli has been weaving for 20 years.

The rug they are working on is an 8×8 hand knotted rug. In one day, they can knot about 2 vertical feet. As you can tell by the pictures, the current rug on the loom was started today.

Babulal saw Muslims in a rug weaving area, weaving. He became interested in rugs and learned from the Muslim village, Manoharpur.

The home of Babulal and Kalli — to the uneducated eye, this home would not seem like much. In fact, it is a very good home in the village. The walls are plastered and painted, they have a room for sleeping, a separate kitchen area, storage room, and a decent sized courtyard that holds the loom.
