GIVING BACK
Rug News andDesign loves hearing about how rug retailers get out into the community and get involved. Through a Facebook friend who is involved with Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington, NC, I learned that the Gallery of Oriental Rugs was getting involved with their Christmas bazaar.
The Gallery of Oriental Rugs was established in 1988 by Fred and Pat Nasseri. Their mission is “to create a company synonymous with quality and value in the oriental rug and carpet market.” It is not only important to them to be top in the industry—they were awarded “Number 1 Rug Retailer in America, 2007” and received an AmericasMart Award—it is important to them to be part of the community.
Cape Fear Academy is known for its community support through activities such as classroom helpers at inner-city elementary schools, beach clean ups, Salvation Army toy drives, providing thanksgiving meals to families in need, and collecting items for animal shelters.
Gallery of Oriental Rugs was asked to participate in Cape Fear Academy Holiday Market, and it was a perfect fit for them to be part of the community. “The event is a fundraiser for faculty professional development funds to make it possible for their program to continue to thrive. Sharing our beautiful rugs with holiday shoppers in a festive environment alongside other area retailers appeals to us, and we look forward to supporting a fine school and our lovely community in this way.” 25% of their sales at the holiday market will go to the school and their community service endeavours.
Not only is Gallery of Oriental Rugs getting involved with the community, they are also showing how they are a family. A family that gets involved and supports the community beyond just their retail store.
