What markets or design centers do you attend regularly?

rnad 2.12 for the web 1TM Design Residential 1 17 (photo 1)I go regularly to the Denver Design center.  I don’t go to markets particularly, as I really haven’t had to do so. I can keep up through the media/internet and the Denver Design center.

Do you have a favorite source for buying your rugs?

I live in the Vail Valley. The Denver Design Center is two hours away, so locally, I like to go to Ruggs Benedict. They are very helpful and have a wide variety of products and prices.  They are happy to bring several rugs to the client’s home on a trial basis. I bring fabric swatches to the store, select a few items, and they will deliver them to my clients, help layout the rugs and other items, so we can see them in the setting.

What feature do you find most important in a rug?

There really is no one major feature. Color, of course, is very important, but so is pattern, design and material. The whole package is important.

Do you have a favorite style or fiber of rug?

I love it when there is silk in the rug. I can see that a mile away. In the mountains we have quite a variety of traditional, contemporary and mountain elegant homes.  I am very careful to select the appropriate style for the individual home.

Do you shop online?

I have been designing for thirty years and typically want to see and touch the item before I purchase it. I will do research online but then make an effort to find it.

Do you purchase custom rugs often?

I did a few years ago, but not lately.  In the last four years with the economy suffering, personal budgets and prices have been tighter. I love to design a custom rug, when I get a chance. It is so much fun to have the opportunity!
