What design centers or markets do you attend regularly?
We love to source items from various showrooms in the Merchandise Mart. We are very fortunate to have such great design accessibility right down the street from our offices. We also heavily source from a few of our select boutique spots in Los Angeles and ABC Carpet in New York.
Do you have a favorite source for buying your rugs?
Our favorite source for buying rugs is Oscar Isberian here in Chicago. They have an amazing amount of inventory and will let us customize almost anything if they don’t have what we’re looking for.
What feature in the rug is most important to you?
The most important feature of a rug is that it does its job in the space. Some rugs are meant to tie the entire room together; others are supposed to be soft and blend away as an accent.
How often do you purchase a custom rug and why?
When we customize a rug, it is usually to tweak a color ever so slightly or get the perfect size, which is practically every time we shop for rugs.
Do you have any favorite style or fiber of area rug?
We love, love, love a blend of wool and silk. We find that no matter what the weave, it always has a luxe look and feel.
Are there any design rules you specifically like to follow or break?
Yes, no rules. We feel like design comes naturally and evolves into the palette based off of one great inspiration.
How important is being green to you?
We like being green but don’t actively seek it out, unless a client specifically requests it.
