Block Printed Dossal by John Robshaw as hung behind the altar at the Church of the Heavenly Rest NYC.
John Robshaw learned block printing, and then learned India. Working with artisans in India, he created this asymetric design using colors that mimic the colors of flower petals that he found available when he was designing the project.
Shown is a detail from the hanging.
Notice the lightness of color, which is different than the oversaturated hues typically seen in bedspreads.
